A beautiful family vacation rental home
in the heart of Sister Bay, Wisconsin.

Our historical renovated church, Maple Manor, has 8 Bedrooms, 6 with en-suite bathroom, Jacuzzi tub, fireplace, desk and sitting area. Our home offers a beautiful eat-in kitchen with cherry cabinets and granite counter tops. Enjoy our very spacious great room with 25’ high ceiling and a joining dining room that seats 10. There is a first floor powder room, first floor laundry room, large deck large fire pit, a grill and a half acre county backyard. Maple Manor is located within the Sister Bay Village limits and is ¼ mile walk to beach, marinara, shops, restaurants and amphitheatre.

Maple Manor was formerly the Sister Bay Baptist Church. The property was donated to the church in 1882 by J.J. Wiltse and the first church was built. In 1916 the original church was demolished and the congregation built a new church on the site. In 1975 the congregation built a new church on Hwy 42 in Sister Bay. The old church remained vacant until 2001 when Kurt Reetz purchased and immediately started the huge task of gutting and completely renovating the church to be a second home for his family. The exterior appearance of the church was maintained but as the photos show, the interior was completely changed.

In Nov. 2018 we purchased Maple Manor from Kurt and are very excited to be the new owners. Maple Manor is already an amazing property but a finished basement added in 2019 made it even bigger and more amazing. Now finished it sleeps 22 in beds and still has lots of room for those that do not require a bed. The vacation rental options are endless. What is your group looking for?

We selected this property because it provided the roominess our family would need for a Midwest reunion. We had often stayed in Door County when the kids were small but hadn't traveled there as a family for 17 years. The home did not disappoint. The home is spacious and each room beautifully appointed with the amenities and décor of a fine home. Each of our children, now grown and married, had their own bedrooms with adjoining bath. Their children, the cousins shared a bedroom, and they were in heaven! The kitchen was so well stocked with everything needed to prepare even a gourmet meal, that a pot brought to prepare a special dish was not needed. Unfortunately, the pot brought was forgotten, so I guess we'll have to book a return stay to retrieve the lost goods. Unlike one of the previous comments, our deposit was returned within a week of checkout. Thank you for sharing your home with our family!
It rained everyday that we were in Door County. We didn't care, because it gave us an excuse to spend more time in this gorgeous home. This home exceeded our expectations. It is unique in nature and ambiance. The quality is in the construction and the decorating warmed huge spaces making it more than comfortable. Our family of ten adults gathered together and found times when it was nice to enjoy the loft to read or during a storm the third floor watch tower made for an exciting way to watch the lightening. The layout is perfect...hosting a large kitchen work area, granite counters, an 8' island, eating area seats 10 and even the kitchen sink and faucet are awesome. There is a wonderful deck overlooking the fields and we were able to spend time chilling and grilling. The guys tossed a football around in the spacious yard. The GREAT ROOM is just awe-inspiring! A wall of indirectly lit shelves and glass cabinets adorn the 47 foot wall with a large fireplace set into the step up arched focal point. The high ceiling is beamed and indirectly lit also. All have queen sized beds and soft feather quilts. It is difficult to capture the true beauty of the home with photography. The home was meticulous and we would recommend it to the most discriminate. The owner was extremely personable and willing to please. Great memories were created for our family!
"Our group of 8 had a wonderful time surrounded with Door Counties beauty right out the back door. The home was beautifully decorated and our sleeping accommodations with each couple having their own bathroom was perfect. Kitchen was well stocked with all our cooking needs. Loved the long center island!!! Will definitely recommend to all our friends and family. Had a wonderful time. Thanks for the loan of your beautiful home. We'll be back."
This is a beautiful home inside and out--even more beautiful than in the pictures! The rooms are spacious and comfortable--especially the kitchen. We made most of our own meals during our stay and had plenty of counter and refrigerator space. Having a private bathroom with each bedroom was very nice. This home suited our group of ten very comfortably from the great grandparents to the family with the new baby. During our stay, we enjoyed pizza from Husbys, the Sister Bay Beach, Stone's Throw Winery, the Door County Ice Cream Factory, and the American Folklore Theater. We will definitely return.
This is a beautiful conversion of an earlier place of worship into a rental property which very comfortably accommodates five adult couples, or any family group/s up to ten. The kitchen is newly renovated and fully stocked with the necessary utensils and plates and service-ware with large adjacent breakfast area. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there is a powder room off of the large common room on the first floor. Large dining room. Two sets of stairs make separate accessibility to the two bedrooms on the upper level. Unique sitting area in the former bell-tower. Adequate parking area for all visiting families. Good hiking and bike riding from the property. The town of Sisters Bay is walk-able. I can recommend this home unequivocally. Clean, well-maintained, and exactly as presented on-line. There are things to note for potential renters: This does not have a view of Lake Michigan or Green Bay, although both bodies of water are close and easily accessible. Its location in the rolling countryside of the Door peninsula, however, is in itself quite beautiful. Entry stairs make it unsuitable for the handicapped. Bring your own coffee maker. I timed the existing brewer and it took 45 minutes to produce a full 12 cup pot. Luckily I am an early riser and had coffee ready for the rest of the family when they awoke.I would suggest that one (quite inexpensive) upgrade to the owners.
We came from California to Sister Bay to lay our mother to rest next to our father. There were 6 siblings, a few spouses and 2 nieces and having a place for all of us to stay together was very important and Maple Manor was PERFECT. The lay out and spaciousness of the house allowed both privacy and room for us to get together w/o feeling cramped. All 11 of us "LOVED" the house!Being able to walk each morning to Al Johnson's for Swedish pancakes (a family tradition) was a big plus! Thank you for opening your house to others. Our stay in your home will always be a special memory to us.
Our 4 couple book club spent 4 nights in this lovely house. It was a wonderful place for what has become an annual excursion, especially for a group that has much to talk about besides the books we read.
Our extended family of 11 stayed here the first week of July, 2012 and enjoyed it so much! We have stayed at other vacation rentals across the country, but this ranks on top for quality, beauty, relaxation, close to Sister Bay, but with an out of town feel. The listing was exactly as posted, the pictures are great, but don't do the home justice. The property was clean and when there was a minor problem, it was taken care of within two hours. The owner called me personally to make sure that everything was taken care of and then gave me all kinds of tips about the surrounding area. This was a fabulous, wonderful vacation/family reunion. I would highly recommend it.
What a gift this place is! Space for everyone! Very comforting energy. One of the healthiest family vacations ever! We played, ate too much, made s'mores, laughed & talked, and slept well. Thank you for this place!! We will return ASAP!
